About us

Built by the people who use it.

SpeechTherapist.app is designed by two practicing speech-language pathologists and the founder of SpeechLP — because the tools we wanted for our own caseloads didn't exist.

It started with carryover

SpeechLPcame first — and it started at home. Shail Silver founded it on a truth every SLP knows: a child's progress depends on what happens between sessions — and home practice only sticks if a kid actually wants to do it. SpeechLP was his answer to that: home practice a child would actually want to do — five playful minutes a day, guided by Perry the penguin. As practicing SLPs, we spent the last year as clinical advisors helping design it: which cues, which words, what an evidence-based home routine really looks like.

And we kept running into the same truth every clinician knows: home practice is only half the loop. The other half is everything on the clinician's side — the session itself, the note that has to be written afterward, the parent who deserves a clear update, the plan for next week, the patterns hiding across a busy caseload. That half was still scattered across five apps and two hours of Sunday-night paperwork.

Then the technology caught up. The speech-recognition model our engineering team has spent the past year fine-tuning reached the point where it could listen to a real therapy session and produce data solid enough to document from. Suddenly the question wasn't “can this work?” — it was “what should a session feel like when the paperwork takes care of itself?”

So we're building the other half ourselves — and we didn't stay advisors. We joined SpeechLP as Co-Founders & Co-CEOs, because we believe in this loop enough to run the company building it. SpeechTherapist.app connects that whole loop: record a session once, and the documentation, parent update, and lesson plan flow from it — with home carryover through SpeechLP built in, not bolted on. Designed by clinicians, feature by feature, for the way pediatric speech therapy actually works.

Who we are

Mari GottliebM.A., CCC-SLP

Co-Founder & Co-CEO, SpeechLP

Private Practice SLP

Mari came to speech therapy from a first career in advertising, and she still loves a good creative project — especially one this meaningful. She owns her own private practice, working with preschool-age children in schools as well as adults, and shapes the platform's clinical workflows, documentation standards, and the language the AI is allowed to use. Every note format is anchored to documentation she'd sign herself.

Alissa FoxM.S., CCC-SLP

Co-Founder & Co-CEO, SpeechLP

School-Based Teletherapy SLP

Alissa brings more than 20 years of school-based clinical experience across preschool through twelfth grade levels. Having managed comprehensive district caseloads and complex IEP processes throughout her career, she now translates that expertise into the digital space via teletherapy. Alissa is dedicated to creating therapeutic interventions that build confidence and drive outcomes. She leads the development of the platform's educational and compliance infrastructure, ensuring that IEP management and service delivery adhere to the highest institutional standards for both in person and virtual environments.

Shail Silver

Founder of SpeechLP

Chairman, SpeechTherapist.app

Shail founded SpeechLP to help bridge the gap between therapy sessions and everyday communication. Helping children practice consistently between therapy sessions remains one of the biggest challenges many families face. His goal was to create home practice that children actually enjoy—making it easier for children to stay engaged while reinforcing the skills they learn in therapy. Today, Shail serves as Chairman of SpeechLP and SpeechTherapist.app, where he leads the engineering team behind the platform's fine-tuned speech recognition technology that powers both products.

Jabali Ndungu

Head of Engineering · leads SpeechTherapist.app

Matthew Siu

Lead iOS Developer · leads the SpeechLP app

One team across both products — and not their first build together: Shail, Jabali, and Matt have shipped products together before, and it shows. Over the past year they fine-tuned a speech-recognition model until it could keep up with real therapy sessions — young children, play, background noise and all — and built everything around it: live transcription during sessions, encrypted audio and HIPAA-grade infrastructure, the AI pipeline that drafts your documentation, and the SpeechLP games families use at home. The clinicians decide what the platform should do; this team is why it actually does it.

What we believe

The child, not the paperwork

Every feature must help a clinician think less about documentation and more about the child in front of them. If it doesn't, we don't build it.

Evidence-based, always

The AI is guardrailed to evidence-based practice — functional, naturalistic recommendations. No filler exercises, no invented data, ever.

Your judgment at the center

AI drafts; the clinician reviews, verifies, and signs. Anything estimated is labeled as estimated. The signature on the note is yours — so the standards are too.

Never done learning

There's always more to learn — new lenses to think through, better ways to treat. The platform is built to nudge that growth: patterns noticed, one thoughtful question after a session, evidence worth revisiting. Because great clinicians keep challenging themselves.
